Creamy Dreamy Avocado Purée
A simple and nutritious first food, this avocado purée is packed with healthy fats and essential nutrients for your baby's development. Its smooth, creamy texture is easy for little ones to enjoy.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado (dark skin, yields to gentle pressure)
Instructions
Wash the avocado thoroughly under cool, running water.
Place the clean avocado on a cutting board.
Using a sharp knife (adults only), carefully cut the avocado lengthwise around the pit.
Twist the two halves of the avocado to separate them.
Remove the pit. An adult can use the knife to gently tap the pit, then twist to remove, or use a spoon to scoop it out.
Scoop out the soft, green flesh from both avocado halves using a spoon.
Place the scooped avocado flesh into a clean bowl.
Using a fork, mash the avocado thoroughly until it forms a smooth paste. Ensure there are no lumps.
For a creamier, thinner consistency (especially for beginners), add 1-2 teaspoons of breast milk or formula.
Mix well until the purée reaches the desired consistency. It should be smooth and easily spoonable.
Serve the fresh avocado purée to your baby immediately.
If not serving immediately, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the purée to prevent browning.
To store (if necessary): Add a few drops of breast milk on top to slow browning. Do not use lemon juice.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours. Discard if there is significant browning or any off smell.
